How It Works
Select the brush tool (first item, open by default when you open the home page) from the toolbar. Then:
- Choose a character - either from the ▄▀◾• ░▒▓█ palette or by typing one into the "Input:" field.
- Set your brush size - draw with one character, 2×2, 3×3, or 4×4 blocks.
- Click or drag your mouse - your selected character will appear on the canvas as you draw with your mouse, just like in MS Paint.
Brush Settings
- Brush Size:
- 1×1 - draw one character at a time
- 2×2, 3×3, 4×4 - fill a square area with your character
- Delete: Use the space character to erase parts of your drawing
- Input: Type any character into the input box to draw with it
- Palette: Click to quickly choose common drawing characters (like █, #, *, etc.)
Search for Special Characters 🔍
You can search for any symbol by its name! Just start typing in the search field - for example:
- arrow to find →, ←, ↑, ↓, ⇨, etc.
- kiss for 💋😗😘
- braille for ⣿ ⠷ ⡏ ⡟ ⠂⠿
- shade to find ░, ▒, ▓, and other block characters
Once you find the character, click it to add it to your canvas and use it with the brush tool.
It's Like Digital Spray Paint 🎨
Think of the brush tool as a spray can. You can choose what you're spraying (a character in this case), how big the spray area is (brush size), and even erase with a "clear" spray (the space character or whatever your background is).
Quick Tips
- Use larger brush sizes for backgrounds and patterns
- Use the space character to quickly erase
- Combine the brush with the character picker to reuse designs

Can I undo brush strokes?
Yes! Use the Undo button to remove your last action.
Can I use emojis or special characters?
Most Unicode characters are supported, including emojis, arrows, shapes, and more. Just search for them by name or paste them into the input box. Be careful with emojis in your ASCII art because usually they are wider characters which might mess up your result.
Why does my drawing look uneven?
Make sure you're using a monospace font (like Courier) so every character lines up perfectly on the grid.
Try out the brush tool and let your creativity flow. Use the brush tool to draw directly on your ASCII art canvas! Just choose a character, pick your brush size, and start drawing. You can use a character from the palette or type in your own.
