Select or Highlight an Area on the Canvas ✂️
Select a rectangular area on the canvas to easily delete that section, crop, copy or insert the section. Perform operations only on a selected area.
Let's say you added a text to the ASCII art or merged two text documents and you want to remove them. Click the fourth button in the toolbar to start selecting. This opens up handy tools: Delete, Crop, Remove Selection, Copy, and Insert. Once this tool is active, click and drag your mouse across the area you want, from one corner to the opposite corner.
The selected area will show up with white text on a blue background. You'll also see the text appear in a small box below, and we'll display where the selection starts and how big it is. 🎯
Here's What Each Option Does
- Delete: Erases the selected part
- Crop: Keeps only the selected part and removes the rest
- Remove Selection: Clears your selection without doing anything else
- Copy: Copies the selected part to the clipboard so you can paste it later
- Insert: Adds the contents from the box into the top-left corner of the canvas
Think of it like a Sandwich 🍞
Imagine you're cutting a slice out of a sandwich. You might want to save just that part (Crop), throw it away (Delete), or copy it to make another sandwich later (Copy and Insert). It's that simple.
